Under Construction

We had our ultrasound this week to check in on this baby and we are happy to report that it is a healthy baby boy! He measured a little small so they decided to delay my due date by almost two weeks. I now have a due date of July 30th. i will get to have another ultrasound in a month to check on his progress. I will keep you posted. I think if you click on the picture above it will show you a bigger image. I will try and get better scans in the meantime. We are still working on a name so you will have to be patient with us.

Trick or treat

these are the boys halloween costumes from the year before last, 2007! Stew found them when I was doing some cleaning and they wanted to put them on. Can you believe it Skoebie's costume was size 12-18mos and Stew's was size 18-24 mos! i had a good laugh and had to share. They actually fit better than I thought they would. The boys had a lot of fun playing dress up "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse". At one point Stew even had on the Mickey costume, it was a hoot!

laundry help

If you ever need a hand emptying a front loader waser or dryer Skoebie is the man to call. I think he can hear the machines open from the other side of the house! He actually loves to help pull the clothes out and put them in as well as push the buttons to make the washer and dryer start. He thinks this is his job around the house. Who am I to tell him no? Sometimes he will even pull the basket of dirty clothes from the bedroom to the laundry room to help me get the job done. Next, I guess, I have to work on getting him to learn to fold and put away the clothes.

Stew drew this picture the other day. He then told me that he needed a piece of tape to hang it on the wall. He clearly told me it "was art and needed hanged up." I was busy doing something so I gave him a piece of tape and said, "Oh, really, Art huh?" Stew then told me, "Yes, I drew Papa and he needs to see it on the wall." That made me pay more attention and take a look. I think he did a pretty good job. I saw that he had Joe wearing a ball cap, hair, a smile and only one eye dark enough to be seen in the picture but there are two. I had to be sure to point it out to Joe when he came home from work. Expecially since it was "art" and had to be hung on the wall.

Stew loves trucks

How about sitting in a truck, reading about trucks with more trucks on the floor? Well, it sure makes Stew happy.

Stew's first soccer game

Saturday was Stew's first soccer game. We played the Tigers, another group of 3 and 4 year olds. It was a lot of fun to watch. We enjoyed watching the game and how some kids were way into playing and others could have cared less. Stew complained a little about his throat being dry and needing a drink, but other than that he did very well for just having surgery. He was a good defense man. The Tigers had one kid that was exceptionally great at scoring a goal, so Stew would try and force him to kick the ball out of bounds everytime he had the ball. He was actually doing a really good job. It will be fun to watch continued improvement over the next 5 weeks. They have a game every Saturday thru March 14th. Does anyone have a great team name suggestion for a "blue" team? (Like the Orange team was the Tigers)

Day two, the worst day...

Day two was definately the worst for poor Stew. We definately didn't do much. Stew rested and watched some TV. He hated taking his pain medicatin because he said it hurt and tasted bad. By the afternoon he perked up and made it outside to soccer practice. The outside air helped him feel better briefly. His major complaint through the entire process has been his ears. All of the swelling in his throat has caused pressure to build up behind his ears and make it even more painful to swallow. Thankfully everyday he continues to get better.

Stew's tonsils got evicted

This Morning we woke up and took Stew over to Madigan Army Hospital to have his tonsils out. He has always been a very loud snorer, and he has had night terrors since he was very little. At his 3 year check up the doc said that his tonsils were very big and needed to be checked by the ENT. The ENT said that they had to go along with their friends the adenoids. They think that his large tonsils may constrict his breathing at night and cause him to wake up in a panic, thus causing the night terrors. Stew did great today. He went to surgery like a pro, sped through recovery, and had the floor nurses eating out of the palm of his hand. He did so well that he did not have to stay the night. We were able to bring him home about 4pm. It was a long day for all, but hopefully it will help the snoring and the night terrors. Skoebie was so sweet today too. He answered Stew's every call. He held his hand when he was scared, gave hugs, got him tissues to wipe his nose and laid beside him in his hospital bed for comfort. These two boys are very sweet to each other. We were so proud of Stew today for being a big kid, and so brave. His biggest complaint the entire time was about the IV in his hand. Stew was also very good about drinking plenty of fluids today and he even was able to eat mac and cheese for lunch. I was impressed. He has been eating everything we would let him have ever since he woke up from surgery. He has been hungry all afternoon. He has eaten french fries, banana bread, shells and cheese, half a banana, green beans, and two Popsicles since we got home! You would think he missed more than just breakfast. We are just very glad to have him back home and healing. I will post pictures of our big day tomorrow. Until then...

First day of Soccer

Have you ever tried to herd a litter of Kittens? Well, I am sure that is how Coach Carlos felt last night trying to teach 3 and 4 year olds soccer at their first ever practice. Stew is cheering in the first picture that he made a goal. In the second picture they are practicing weaving in and out of the cones. Below Joe is helping guide the way, while Stew kicks the ball in and out of the cones. Finally we have Stew with all of his teammates, and Skoebie the team mascot. It was really funny to watch all of the kids running around like crazy and not paying any attention to what was going on. Their Coach did a great job of holding their attention and keeping them all involved and active for the 30 minutes of practice. It will be interesting to watch their progress throughout the season. They will have two weeks of practice and 5 weeks of games. If you need a good laugh, come watch Stew and his team!

Playdoh

Here are some Pictures of the boys having fun with Playdoh in the kitchen. They love playing with all the tools and cutters that go along with playdoh. I don't particularly enjoy the mess, but I give in every once in a while. I have found that this shorter section of counter in the kitchen works out great for this purpose because the floor underneath them is vinyl. It is also nice that I can also work in the kitchen preparing dinner while they have fun right next to me and think they are helping. Stew was so focused that he wouldn't even look up to smile at the camera.
